What is a Lennon Wall? Lennon Wall (လန်နွန်  နံရံ ) ဆိုတာဘာလဲ

The Lennon Wall [from Wikipedia] (or John Lennon Wall) is a wall in Prague, Czechia that has been filled with Lennon inspired graffiti, Beatles lyrics, and messages relating to local and global causes. The wall had always had its fair share of love poems and messages against the Czech regime since the 1960s. The first decoration on the wall connected to John Lennon arrived in the 1980s, following the assassination of the internationally beloved artist.

During the 2014 

democracy protests in  Hong Kong, a similar Lennon Wall appeared along the staircase outside of the Hong Kong Central Government Offices.  Inspired by the original in Prague, many thousands of people posted colorful post-it notes expressing democratic wishes for Hong Kong.

Five years later, during the 2019–20 Hong Kong protests, the same wall was again created, with new post-it notes. Within days, dozens of post-it-note Lennon Walls had “blossomed everywhere” (遍地開花) throughout Hong Kong. There are even some Lennon Walls located inside government offices. Over the course of the protests, as many as over 150 lennon walls popped up throughout the region.

Lennon Walls have also appeared outside of Hong Kong in the cities of: Toronto, Vancouver BC, Calgary, Seoul, Tokyo, Berlin, London, Sydney, Manchester, Melbourne, Taipei, and Auckland.

Since the beginning of the 2021 Myanmar Protests, many ‘mini’ lennon walls have been spotted across cities such as Yangon and Mandalay, with people leaving notes in support and in protest against the junta.

This project aims to serve as a ‘digital lennon wall’, a website where people can leave messages in support of the cause in the form of little digital sticky notes. 

လန်နွန်နံရံ [ဝီကီပီးဒီးယား မှ] (သိုမဟုတ် ဂျွန်လန်နွန်နံရံ) သည် လန်နွန် အားဂုဏ်ပြသည့်အနေဖြင့် Graffitiများခြင်း၊ Beatles သီချင်းစာသားများနှင့် တိုင်းပြည်ရေးနှင့် ကမ္ဘာ့အရေးဆိုင်ရာ အကြောင်းတရားများနှင့် သက်ဆိုင်သောမက်ဆေ့ခ်ျများနှင့်ပြည့်နှက်နေသော ပရာ့ဂ်မြိုရှိ နံရံတစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။ ၁၉၆၀ ပြည့်လွန်နှစ်များမှ စ၍ ချက်ခ်ျအစိုးရအားဆန့်ကျင်သော ချစ်ခြင်းအထိမ်းအမှတ်ကဗျာများနှင့် စာသားများထိုနံရံပေါ်၌ ပြည့်နှက်နေခဲ့ပါသည်။ နံရံပေါ်၌ရှိသော အဦးဆုံးအပြင်အဆင်မှာ နိုင်ငံတကာချစ်မြတ်နိုးသောအနုပညာရှင် ဂျွန်လန်နွန် လုပ်ကြံခံရပြီးနောက် ၁၉၈၀ ပြည့်နှစ်တွင် စတင်ပေါ်ပေါက်ခဲ့ပါသည်။
